MONSTER HIGH VINYLS: CLEO DENILE

I know I know, I screwed up again. I am posting after a month since my last visit. I have no excuse, except that I am being lazy. I would have said I'd be regular in posting but, as apparent, I won't be sticking to my words. So lets skip that part and move on to the doll in focus.

I was a fan of Monster High until they decided to re-design our favourite ghouls to look like Barbie. Although the MH craze did not quite sweep most Indian consumers off their feet, I know some collectors here who have stacked up their shelves with their favourite MH character dolls when the line made a very brief appearance in India around 2012-13. I am still in love with the older MH dolls and try to find them online, mostly on Amazon.in.

It was during one such quest that I came across these mini vinyl versions of the basic characters. Here I would like to mention that sellers on Amazon import the dolls not available in India from the US. So after adding the shipping and other charges to the MRP, the prices of these dolls become quite unreasonable. Take for instance, these vinyls were (and still are) priced at Rs. 1800 (USD 30) or so. But I remained hopeful and kept checking the prices every now and then. And sure enough, one day I saw Cleo vinyls on sale for Rs 540 (USD 9) each. I wasted no time and ordered one at once. Here’s Cleo in box:

Here’s how the back of the box looked:

The transparent window is in the shape of MH skull. Here are its sides:

                                                                       Right Side

                                                                       Left Side

Such cute art work. And finally here are the top and bottom of the box:

                                                                        Bottom

                                                                              Top

The top has a plastic tab that can be used to hang the box for display. Love it.

Here is Cleo out of the box:

There’s nothing but 2 separate plastic casts that are holding Cleo from top and bottom. Kind of reminds me of Funko Pop Sheldon.

Here’s Cleo totally free:

Such a cutie. Here’s a close up of her face:

Her pupils are strange Egyptian symbols

The paint work is very detailed and neat, which I like immensely. Here’s her back:

Her gold streaked brown hair totally covers her back. The sole of one of her shoes has the MH logo etched and the other has some numbers printed. The base of her hair has some copyright info:

Cleo here is slightly over 10CM tall:

Which makes her taller than my Funko Pop Sheldon:

                                                      Cleo (Left) and Sheldon (Right)

While Sheldon has a giant head that can turn all the way round, Cleo has absolutely no movable parts. She’s like one solid piece of vinyl.

My view on the product: I really liked how detailed and mess-free the paint work on this doll is. She’s also very cute looking. The “no moving parts” part can be ignored, as she’s a collectible. For almost the same price, I personally would prefer these vinyls over Funko Pops any day. So in my opinion, if you are a MH fan and find one of these at a price below Rs. 1000, go for it.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
